Kindergarten

1st Grade

Reading and Writing

  1. Participate in leveled reading groups for individualized instruction
  2. Learn to identify beginning, middle and end and write a recount of a story or set of events
  3. Math

  4. Sharpen addition and subtraction facts and will begin double digit equations
  5. Learn to tell time and count money
  6. Science

  7. Learn about the scientific process
  8. Participate in a variety of thematic units focusing on world regions: the arctic, the ocean and the African jungle
  9. Complete science units in the areas of plant life, solids and liquids and magnets
  10. Social Studies

  11. Complete social studies units on family, Christmas around the world and civil rights
  12. Bible

  13. Learn Biblical knowledge and how to find scripture
  14. Participate in Biblical units that tie Bible stories in with life application and growing in Christian character

2nd GRADE

  1. Learn to have Godly character.
  2. Learn phonics and other reading skills to become a fluent reader.
  3. Learn to add, subtract, count money, tell time, be introduced to multiplication and division, and other math concepts
  4. Make things that fly while learning about Air and Flight
  5. Take turns studying in a tepee while learning about Native Americans.
  6. Learn about dinosaurs and have an all-day Dinosaur Day.
  7. Take turns working in a "hut" and study in a Rainforest environment.
  8. Learn cursive handwriting.
  9. Go to Cat Tales and other Field Trips.
